Acceptable use and responsible use
Last updated 2026-09-24
AccountMotive is for business-to-business research and outreach. These rules protect the people who appear in it and keep the service reliable.
You may not
- Look up, profile or contact people for personal, consumer, employment-screening, credit, insurance, housing or law-enforcement purposes.
- Use the service to harass, stalk, discriminate against or intimidate anyone, or to infer sensitive traits such as health, religion or political views.
- Resell, publish or bulk-share contact data, or build a competing database from it.
- Scrape the service, share accounts, get around credit or rate limits, or test its security without written permission.
- Upload malicious code, or content you do not have the right to use.
Contacting people responsibly
- Follow anti-spam and privacy laws where the recipient is, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, UK PECR and CASL.
- Identify yourself and your business, give a working way to opt out, and honour opt-outs promptly.
- Add anyone who asks not to be contacted to your do-not-contact list in Settings → Privacy. AccountMotive will then skip them in searches, verification and exports.
- Do not present AI-written messages or inferences as verified facts about a person or company. Plays label what is verified, inferred or a recommendation; keep that distinction.
- Do not describe a company as “in market” or “ready to buy” based on AccountMotive signals alone.
Enforcement
We watch for unusual activity, such as sudden spikes in lookups or failures, and may automatically pause paid features while we review. We may suspend workspaces that break these rules. Report misuse to sales@accountmotive.com.
