AccountMotive (111 W Lewis St, Greensboro, NC 27406, United States) provides a business-to-business research tool. This policy covers two groups: people who use AccountMotive (“users”), and business professionals whose work details may appear in the product (“business contacts”).

Information about users

  • Account details: name, work email, password (stored only as a secure hash) or Google sign-in profile, and workspace name.
  • Billing details: plan, invoices and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment processor and never stored by us.
  • Product activity: searches, saved companies, notes, generated plays, exports and settings you create.
  • Usage and security records: sign-ins, rate-limit and security events, and privacy-conscious product analytics (counts and identifiers only — never contact details, prompts or provider responses). You can turn analytics off in Settings → Privacy.

Information about business contacts

When a user asks, AccountMotive may look up people at a company: name, job title, seniority, department, work email, work phone and professional profile links. These come from licensed data providers listed on our subprocessors page and from public sources. We do not collect sensitive categories of data, and we do not look anyone up automatically — only when a user requests it for a company they are researching.

Legal basis (where GDPR or UK GDPR applies): legitimate interests of our users in business-to-business sales research, balanced by the safeguards on this page. Each record keeps its source, lookup date and confidence. Contact details that are not verified are labelled as such.

How we use information

  • To provide, secure and support the service, and to bill for it.
  • To enforce plan limits, rate limits and our acceptable use policy.
  • To improve the product using aggregated, de-identified measures.
  • We do not sell personal information and do not use business-contact data for our own marketing.

Sharing

We share information only with the subprocessors listed on the subprocessors page, with integrations a user connects (for example their HubSpot account), and when required by law.

Retention

  • User account and workspace data: while the account is active. Deletion requests take effect after a 7-day cancellation window, then data is removed.
  • Provider-found people that were never saved: deleted after 12 months. Verification checks: deleted after 12 months.
  • Billing, credit and audit records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, without contact details.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may access, correct, export or delete your personal information, object to processing, or ask us not to process it. Users can export and delete data in Settings → Privacy. Business contacts can use the data request form; when we delete a business contact we also add them to a do-not-contact list so they are not looked up again. We respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, workspace data is isolated per workspace, integration tokens are encrypted, and staff access is limited and logged. See the security page.

Cookies

See the cookie notice.

Changes

We will update this page and notify account owners by email before material changes take effect.
